Surviving 9/11

27 hours under the rubble

20 years after September 11, Surviving 9/11 is a dive into the story of the last survivor of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. On that day, Genelle Guzman-McMillan was the last person rescued from Ground Zero after spending 27 hours buried under the rubble.

Surviving 9/11 is a 20-minute VR cinematic documentary commemorating the 20th anniversary of the attacks in New York. Featuring exclusive and never-seen-before archives of the World Trade Center remastered for virtual reality, this documentary offers a unique connection with the testimony of a survivor — in the time and place of her story.

By exploring Genelle’s souvenirs, this documentary offers an emotional dive into the defining moments of her life: her first days in New York, her memories of 9/11, and her life today, 20 years later as she returns to Ground Zero for the first time since 9/11.
