Champ de Bataille

Verdun, 1916. At the dawn of a battle, a telephone operator is called into a trench to repair the line of a command post. He is just twenty years old, he lost his right ear in an explosion, and the left is not much better. He doesn't even have a gun, his name is Julien, and he will be drawn into the violence and absurdity of war.

We wanted to embody this absurdity through a fragile hero, a hard of hearing boy, a stranger facing a world whose meaning he no longer understands. Filmed in 360° stereoscopic (3DOF), Battlefield offers an immersive experience in the heart of the trenches, in the heart of madness.

Julien is not initially an actor in the battle. He is a technician, based on the rear lines, responsible for telecommunications maintenance. His assistant Baptiste has been essential to him since his hearing problems. It is a deaf man who gives speech to his officers, and who despite himself sends the men to their death.
